The latest

suspended animation over

News, as they say, has been somewhat 'thin on the ground' but now that this website is off the treatment table and hobbling gingerly on the touchline waiting to return to the fray, a number of interesting developments are coming to fruition.  Details to follow shortly, sports fans. In the meantime, you can keep up to date with current events (find out if Raymond really is "just eating my sandwich on the train, LOL!!!") here:

Thursday night is unplugged night

For those of you who are based in or around Glasgow, there will be a series of very stripped-back Eisenhowers appearances (i.e. the singer on his ownsome) over the next few weeks. Raymond is co-hosting the 'Unplugged' night at 'The Rascasse' 14 Busby Road, Clarkston. The special guests for the first evening this Thursday (5th March) are Kelsey Hunter, Saltire, Billy Bates and The Lazarenkos. It all kicks off each week at 8.30 and, with lots of talented guests lined up, there is going to be some great entertainment. Now that most of the British teams are out of the UEFA Cup, what else is there to do on a Thursday night?

Another podcast chat-a-thon

The latest edition of the Electrical Language podcast features an interview with Raymond and some tracks from the new album, along with a couple of songs from Gum (one of them a never-released gem from the band's live set).

One downside of all this exposure is that the photo on the podcast link reveals that the band now features someone who looks alarmingly like Benito Mussolini.

40 years of hurt

Here's a link to a video that evil genius Ed MacArthur at Stealth Studios has just put together. 1969 is a track from our current album 'Film your own Atrocities'. It uses the story of an attempted seduction to look at why the optimism generated by the space race of the sixties appears to have been lost in the early 21st century. The brilliant footage has been 'borrowed' for the occasion and we're hoping to get some publicity out of being sued by NASA as the fortieth anniversary of the moon landings approaches.

Chat attack

Here is a link to the second part of the interview on Mark Hunter's Tartan Podcast. Be warned - this one features 'singing'.

Brouhaha, balderdash and ballyhoo

The new album -'Film your own atrocities'- will shortly be available to buy from this website.
For those of you who like lists, the fourteen poptastic songs on the album are:

Chinese Whispers, Gathering Dust, Reign of the stupid, Less than nothing, After the tide,
1969, The things that make you happy, Aggrodisiac, Being There, Miles until morning, Janine,

Anyone who purchases the CD through the Serali Records site or through this one will receive a free bonus mini-album called ‘Peep-show etiquette’ featuring various acoustic versions, home demos and some previously unavailable Eisenhowers recordings. We advise you to book early to avoid disappointment and then store all of your purchases in a German bank account.

As the full might of our media publicity machine kicks into overdrive, here is a link to Mark Hunter’s splendid Tartan Podcast in which we reveal some of the showbiz secrets behind the making of ‘Film your own atrocities’.

Momentarily out of action, temporarily out of gas

The first album -‘Almost half-undressed’- is currently out of stock and is only available through those nice folk over at cd baby.
Our sincere thanks go to everyone who has bought this album over the last couple of years. A new batch has been ordered and will be available on this site within the next few weeks.

In the meantime, new customers wishing to purchase the first album should use this link:

lay on, Macduff.

The votes are all in from the various corrupt juries around the continent. Various palms have been greased and certain strategic officials and petty bureaucrats have been showered with appropriate gifts.

The running order on the second Eisenhowers album is now all but decided. The album will be called ‘Film your own atrocities’ and will be available to buy when Birnam Wood comes to Dunsinane. Oh, alright then … August.

If you can’t wait for that auspicious moment, you will be able to sample a preview or two if you click on the myspace link on our front page.

In the meantime, here is a photo of someone doing something in a recording studio.

We're Big in Vegas

As part of the meticulously-planned worldwide campaign to whip up a veritable frenzy of media interest in their forthcoming album 'Film your own Atrocities', The Eisenhowers feature in the latest edition of the DigiVegas Indie Podcast. If you click on the link below, you will hear not only an 'amusing' interview about life on the lunatic fringe of the Scottish music industry, but also a number of tracks from the new album. The podcast also features a couple of classic cuts from the first Eisenhowers album, which continues to sell like very cold cakes that have maybe gone a bit off.

File under 'stuff'

For those of you interested in rare or unreleased tracks, an archive
account has now been set up at:

www.soundclick.com/theeisenhowers

Most of the songs posted on this page will be home demos (of which
there are many), previously unreleased tracks and works-in-progress.
The basic arrangements, in some cases, retain a certain energy that
doesn't always survive the 'proper' recording process and these original
versions are sometimes dearer to the writer than the more polished, professional versions. To complete the picture, each mp3 is accompanied by a little explanation of what might have been the intention at the time of writing; maybe that will help some listeners find something to enjoy in these tracks.

The first batch of free downloads to be posted includes the original versions of two tracks (Useless Love and If I had to make a list) from the first Eisenhowers album and another song (Is everybody happy now?) which was covered by Gum on their 2003 'Low-flying Kites' album.
The other songs cover the usual topics - mass suicide, imagined aircrashes, jaded cynicism, self-deluding losers and so on and so forth.

As usual, the names have been changed to protect the guilty.

It's only words

Work continues on the 'difficult' second album. There is probably no point in giving you the working title, as it seems to change every 25 minutes.

Well OK .... since you twisted my arm, it's currently: 'Film your own Atrocities.'

Anyway … we promise to have some stuff for you to hear pretty soon. Among the song titles (for those interested in that sort of thing) are - 1969, Less than Nothing, Gathering Dust, I'm with Stupid, Chinese Whispers, The Long Way Home and Aggrodisiac. We have, incidentally, contacted the Oxford English Dictionary to register that new word, so now every time someone uses it we get a 4p royalty payment. None of this, of course, means anything unless you hear the songs, so watch this space and the myspace page for some sneak previews. A few selected podcasters will also be playing some provisional mixes from the album.

You may have noticed that we have added a 'reviews' section to this website. A few folk have said some very nice things about the first album, so we thought it would be worth recording some of these statements for posterity.
If you would like to add to this body of criticism, feel free to drop by:

www.cdbaby.com/cd/eisenhowers

and 'speak', as they say, 'your brains'.
While we are at it, many thanks to that nice Mr. Reeves for making some design changes for us. If you would like to hire his very professional services, you can contact him at:

www.squandertwo.net/

In addition to all of the above, Raymond is also working on a book of short stories and you can access some samples by clicking on this link:

www.editred.com/Raymond

The finished product (provisionally entitled ‘I reached the top and had to stop and that’s what’s bothering me’) will be available to buy sometime in 2008. Or 2009. Or 2010.

In Europe after Christmas

It’s only 44 days until Christmas and 29 days until the 14th anniversary of the day the mighty Marathon became the slightly-less-mighty Snicker. The autumn leaves are still falling here in bonny Scotland and the word continues to spread on the splendour of ‘Almost half-undressed’.
In addition to our steady UK sales, we are now selling copies in Canada, USA, Holland, Spain and Switzerland.

Huge and heartfelt thanks go out to all of the podcasters who continue to play our music and to the journalists who have written nice things about us.

The best review yet of the album has been published at:
http://www.pennyblackmusic.co.uk/MagSitePages/Review.aspx?id=4872

Aw, shucks! We thank Mr. Carter for his very kind comments.

Stocks of the album are now running dangerously low at Serali Towers, so if you have any difficulties purchasing from this site, we should let you know that the album is also available to buy at:
www.cdbaby.com/eisenhowers

and

http://www.notlame.com/The_Eisenhowers/Page_1/CDEISENHOWERS1.html

Digital downloads are available at Sony Connect, MusicNet, iTunes, Napster, GreatIndieMusic and a number of other sites.

Work is now well underway on the second album. It has a working title of ’15 reasons for you to hold your tongue’ and features a batch of truly stonking tunes.
In the meantime, to whet your appetites, the band will shortly be making some free MP3s available, featuring acoustic versions, works-in-progress and a couple of other surprises. These should be ready within the next couple weeks, so keep watching this site and the myspace page.
Those who live in the Glasgow area might also want to keep their eyes peeled for the odd acoustic set around town.
